Daw Mi Mi Sein (Chief Executive Officer)
Known for her analytical skills and exemplary work ethic, Daw Mi Mi Sein is an inspirational leader who made history as the first Myanmar woman to become CEO of a major bank.
A career professional, Daw Mi Mi Sein rose through the ranks as Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Board of Directors after serving as the bank’s Chief Financial Officer for two years. During her stint as CFO, she played a pivotal role in establishing A bank as one of the top banks in Myanmar – steering growth, managing financial and operational risks, strengthening due diligence and compliance, innovating and increasing efficiencies.
As CEO, Daw Mi Mi Sein is responsible for building a sustainable foundation for growth and advancing business transformation at A bank. This while continuing to establish a robust risk management and governance framework, breaking new ground in international partnerships and strengthening stakeholder trust.
Before joining A bank, Daw Mi Mi Sein has held numerous positions at auditing firms and diverse industries in London, United Kingdom. She also worked as CFO and other senior financial management positions in Myanmar private banks and financial institutions for more than 20 years.
Daw Mi Mi Sein is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) (1995), a Fellow Member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) (2007), and a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s HBS – Accion Program on Strategic Leadership in Inclusive Finance (2019).
U Myo Wynn Than (Deputy CEO)
U Myo Wynn Than joined A bank as Chief Technology Officer in 2018 and serves concurrently as Chief Operating Officer. His expertise includes Core Banking System, Online Utilities Bill Payment, Telebanking, Internet and Mobile Banking, Mobile Wallet, Credit Card Issuing Projects, and Payment Gateway solutions. He received his B.Sc (Hons) in Computing and Information System from the London Metropolitan University (UK) and his MBA from the Yangon University Economics in 2015. His portfolio before entering the banking industry includes work at KMD Co., Ltd, Sunrise Co., Ltd., and Viva Entertainment Co., Ltd. He entered banking as an IT engineer in 2010. He is working as a Chief Technology Officer at A bank since 2018, as a Chief Operating Officer since 2022, currently as Deputy Chief Executive Officer and leading successfully at Banking Business Operation.
U Htin Kyaw Thein (CCO)
U Htin Kyaw Thein is a highly experienced banking professional who joined A bank as Chief Compliance Officer in 2021. His previous portfolio includes positions as Deputy Head of Compliance and Deputy Chief Compliance Officer at various private banks from 2014 to 2021. He began his banking career in 1995 as Assistant Manager and then as Manager at the Myanmar Foreign Trade Bank, serving a total of seventeen years. He then joined the Myanmar Central Bank’s IT Department as Deputy Director from 2012 to 2014. U Htin Kyaw Thein received his Bachelor of Commerce in 1993 and Post Graduate Diploma in Management Administration in 1998 at the Yangon Institute of Economics. He also holds a Master of Public Policy (2001) from the National Graduate Institute for Policies Studies in Tokyo, Japan, and a Master of Banking and Finance (2019) from the Yangon Institute of Economics.
